Foundation Brush or Sponge? Choose by Application Motion
Choosing between a foundation brush and a sponge is less about a universal winner and more about how you like to place and blend product.
Choose a brush for buffing control
A dense, rounded flat-top brush can help you work foundation in sections and adjust pressure as you move around the face. The FLAWLESSCORE™ Foundation Brush is designed for liquid and cream foundation with buffing motions.
Choose a sponge for bounce and edge work
A sponge gives you several contact surfaces. The Desert Mirage Makeup Blending Sponges use rounded sides for larger areas, a flat edge around the nose and eyes, and a precision tip for smaller areas. They can be used damp or dry.
Compare the motions
- Brush: buff or sweep in controlled sections.
- Sponge: bounce and press to merge product into the base.
- Either tool: start with a small amount and build gradually.
Make the decision by routine
If you prefer a single tool for liquid or cream foundation and want direct control, start with a brush. If you like switching contact surfaces or working around small areas, a sponge may fit better.
