How Damp Should a Makeup Sponge Be Before Foundation?

A damp makeup sponge should feel expanded and flexible, not wet enough to release water when pressed against the skin.

Wet it fully first

Allow the sponge to absorb water so the material expands evenly.

Squeeze thoroughly

Remove as much excess water as possible. A towel press can help if the sponge still feels saturated.

Test before adding foundation

Press the sponge lightly in your hand. It should feel damp but should not leave visible water behind.

Why this matters

Too much water can thin or disturb foundation. A properly damp sponge gives you a softer, more controlled blending surface.

The ATLAS Makeup Blending Sponges 4 Pack is a current NOORELA option for liquid-foundation routines.
