How to Clean Makeup Brushes Properly: A Practical Routine
A practical brush-care routine removes visible makeup residue without making unsupported medical or hygiene promises.
Wash the bristles
Use lukewarm water and an appropriate brush cleanser or mild soap. Keep the brush angled downward and avoid soaking the handle and ferrule.
Rinse thoroughly
Work gently through the fibers until visible product and cleanser are removed. Dense brushes may need additional rinsing through the center.
Reshape and dry completely
Press excess water out with a clean towel, return the head to its intended shape and dry it flat in a ventilated area.
Clean according to use
There is no single schedule that fits every routine. Tools used frequently with cream or liquid formulas may need attention sooner than brushes used occasionally with dry powder.
For a dense base tool such as the FLAWLESSCORE™ FOUNDATION BRUSH, inspect the center of the head for remaining product before drying.
