How to Apply Setting Powder Around the Nose Without a Heavy Finish
Setting powder around the nose can be tricky: the area is small, curved and easy to overload. A controlled approach uses less product, places it only where needed and blends the edge into the rest of the base.
Why the nose area needs a targeted approach
The sides of the nose and the crease beside the nostrils are much smaller application zones than the cheeks or forehead. Instead of treating the whole face as one powder zone, start by deciding exactly where you want to set your base.
Step 1: Start with a small amount of powder
Load a small amount of setting powder onto a powder brush and remove excess before the brush reaches the face. It is easier to add another light layer than to soften an area that has been overloaded.
Step 2: Place powder where the base needs setting
Use a controlled pressing motion around the sides of the nose rather than repeatedly sweeping powder across the entire center of the face. Keep the first contact light and localized.
Step 3: Soften the transition
Once the targeted area is set, use the remaining powder on the brush to soften the transition toward the cheeks and center of the face. Avoid automatically adding a second full load.
Choosing a powder brush
For a full-face routine, the Aura Dome Powder Brush has an oversized round dome head and is intended for setting and finishing powder. The key around the nose is not to force the whole head into a small crease, but to use light contact and controlled placement.
If you are refreshing powder away from home, a covered format can be more practical for storage. See the ÉCLIPSE Retractable Powder Brush, which is housed in a protective case for portable touch-ups.
